Yet, I was the only codependant
among the two of us.
Her needs always came first
for both of us.
I burned her words last night,
it was a slow and steady flame
ironically.
No big explosions,
just ashes and cinders disappearing
into a clouded night.
There was no moon to save her,
just smoke to wash away her pain.
---------------------------------
In her wake
I saw a silhouette.
Just a girl,
young and sweet.
She smiled
and held out her hand
beckoning me to leave the
rooftops that left me cold.
I laughed;
her free spirit
pulling me to the ground.
Both feet solidly on the ground,
no more running from;
Instead I am running to...
Not sure where yet,
but she holds my hand
and makes me smile.
And you know what?
It actually reaches my eyes.
